The big bang theory's Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki get smart with us.

You guys are truly funny. I laugh so hard watching your show I feel like an idiot.

Parsons: That's not idiotic. That's exactly the plan.

Quite a few Tv guide were very miffed you weren't nominated for Emmys. Any idea how to stop Charlie Sheen?

Parsons: He works next door to us. It really wouldn't be that hard if we put our minds to it.*

What appealed to you about this off-beat show and your ..ubergeek roles?

Parsons: The dialogue, though it was somewhat hard for me to memorize.

Galecki: I liked that they were socially lost without being losers. As for my character, Leonard, I'm very interested in exploring the hardships of an unattainable crush. I don't generally get to play those roles. I'm usually cast as the romantic lead's brother or best friend.

Jim, executive producer Chuck Lorre says a young female grad student will fall for your character, Sheldon, but he won't even notice. Why?

Parsons: He'd have to be really blindsided by something to shake him of his singular focus, which is his work.

There's speculation that Sheldon has Asperger's syndrome, where he lives in his mind and can't truly relate to other people. True?

Parsons: I hear that all the time. I asked our writers when this started coming up. I was basically told, "No, he doesn't."

Is there some Leonard and Sheldon in Johnny and Jim?

Galecki: Well, Jim grew up in Texas and I grew up in Chicago, where doing theater didn't make you popular on the school bus.

How would you describe their relationship?

Galecki: They probably don't even know if the other has siblings, but their minds fit together like puzzle pieces.

Parsons: Though it's hard to imagine any conversation they'd have about the emotional impact of that!

Your characters are Trekkers. Are either of you into sci-fi or comics?

Galecki: I loved action figures growing up. I wanted to create story lines.

Parsons: I have trouble reading comic books and graphic novels. I get so lost I get a headache.

Johnny, Sara Gilbert is now a regular on the show. How was reuniting with your old Roseanne girlfriend?

Galecki: It's always a luxury to work with someone you already share a creative shorthand with. Initially Chuck, Sara and I wondered if having her on the show might appear gimmicky. But she was just the best actress for the role. Plus, selfishly, who wouldn't want to work with someone they personally and professionally adore? On the downside, Gilbert is the only person in a position to gauge any lack of progress I've made as a kisser over the last 16 years.

How did Kaley Cuoco cope with being the only girl among all you guys last season?

Galecki: I worried about her having to tolerate a whole lot of testosterone. Not that we're the most masculine group. [Both laugh] But she loved being the center of attention.

What kind of people come up to you on the street?

Galecki: Very attactive men and women, who claim they are just like our characters. All of a sudden they are just like our characters.
All of a sudden, the cool crowd wants to join Mensa.
